La Jolla TOPSoccer

La Jolla TOPSoccer

La Jolla TOPSoccer is a soccer program for players with cognitive and/or physical disabilities.  La Jolla Youth Soccer League is proud to be associated with US Youth Soccer and Cal South’s TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) and offer its own program for children in the City of San Diego.  The goal of the program is to foster the physical, mental, and emotional growth of these young players through the sport of soccer.  Through our trained and supportive volunteers, every player will be trained in the skills of the game of soccer while being instilled with self-confidence and self-pride throughout the course of our program.  Soccer is an excellent medium for exercise, improving coordination and meeting other players who face the same challenges. Most importantly, soccer is a sport that the players have the ability to excel at and it is a great way to have fun.

Our Program -
Players will be coached the basic skills of soccer according to their ability, not age and all activities will be catered specific to the abilities of the players.  The idea is to create situations where every player will have the opportunity to shine.  All of the players will have volunteers or “buddies” available to assist in their success and encourage them at all times.

Players - TOPSoccer is available to players between the ages of 5 and up with mental or physical disabilities that include but are not limited to blind or visually impaired, autism, Down syndrome, mental retardation, and cerebral palsy.  It is mandatory that parents or guardians remain at the field for the entire duration for the safety of the players.

Volunteers - Being a volunteer is a great opportunity to influence and touch a TOPSoccer players’ life through support and encouragement.  Our goal is to instill our players with self-confidence and self-pride while teaching them the skills of soccer and having fun.  Service hour credit will be given to all volunteers.
